Dear SKOBFC Community,
It is with great pleasure that I write to you as the new President for 2022 of SKOBFC.
Sadly season 2021 was once again interrupted, but there were some very positive signs across all grades in both our men's and women's programs that point to a strong year for the club on field in 2022. Our final club event for 2021 was a fantastic joint men's & women's training session held at Tooronga last Thursday night, followed by a BBQ and an impromptu presentation of 2021 awards. Sincere thanks to the volunteers who assisted on the evening, led by the hard working (and 2022 Vice President) Lisa Ginies. Thanks also to Peter McDonald for delivering the trophies as one of his final duties in a formal committee capacity after many decades of magnificent service to the club. Words cannot express the tireless work Peter has put in over 30+ years for the club, so a sincere thank you from all at SKOB. As has already been communicated, the 2021 President Michael Doble has stepped down. Michael has provided the club with great service during his time at the helm and been a driving force in the establishment of our Youth Mentor Program, St Kevin's Football Foundation as well as playing an important part in the establishment of the SKOB Saints women's program. These are key pillars of our club that will continue on long into the future. We also bid farewell to the following 2021 committee members - Jim Gleeson (who worked tirelessly during the lockdowns as our Facilities & Game Day Manager), Kane Bowden (who was a key part of our inaugural Indigenous Round in 2021 via his great work with the Killara Foundation), Michael Christian (Football Director for 8 years during which time we saw some wonderful on field success) and Wade Keenan (who headed our Strategy sub-committee and will continue assisting in this regard) . From all at SKOBFC a big thank you for your years of service and we look forward to seeing you at the club in the years to come. As replacements, 2022 will see current SKOB Saints player Steph Augustes, 2021 Reserves co-coach Matt Murphy and (pending final committee approval) ex-club champion Marcus Dollman all join the committee and provide great expertise on a range of fronts.
2022 also marks the historic 75-year anniversary for the club since its founding in 1947.
The pinnacle of this celebration will be a signature event on the evening of Saturday 16th July 2022. We ask all members of the SKOBFC community to please lock this date in your calendars. We hope this will be a fantastic night to celebrate all aspects of the club both past and present. On behalf of the committee, we hope that all members of the SKOBFC community enjoy a safe and relaxing Christmas and New Year period and we look forward to seeing everyone back in action for a big season in 2022. GO SKOB! Pat Mount President
