Tom Purcell returns to SKOB to take on the helm as Saints Senior Coach.
Dear Saints Players (returning and new)
It is a great privilege to lead the coaching team for SKOB Saints in 2018. I have had a strong relationship with the club having taught and coached at St Kevin’s College for ten years, had three sons attend St Kevin’s College and coached at the SKOB for three years. I am a father of ten children and have coached football for 30 years. I look forward to what we can achieve together this season.
I would first like to acknowledge the great work Pat Di Natale has done in his two years as Senior Coach of the Saints. He is very excited about his new position as assistant coach at Oakleigh Chargers Under 18’s next season and will be working with John Taylor in the under 19’s SKOB’s Premier Division.
2018 promises to be another exciting year. We have a great coaching panel to help develop every single person at the club both in their football and as a person. The coaching panel this year is made up of Kim Ledder, Robin Bowles, Titch Callahan, Chris Morley, Richard Lewis and myself. We all believe it is a great honor and responsibility to lead and develop young women in such a supportive and caring community.
As a coaching panel we are committed to TEAM in everything we do. The team mantra is simple. What are you prepared to do for TEAM to be play in a PREMIERSHIP TEAM? Central to this is developing strong relationships, leadership, character and a strong community where we CARE FOR and RESPECT each other at all times.
“St Kevin’s Old Boys Football Club is fortunate to have an outstanding committee led by our newly elected President Michael Doble and Vice President John - Paul Whitbread. We are also blessed to have a person with the experience of Michael Christian as our Director of Football. ”
Together, in 2018 everything will be done to be the very best we can be. As well as getting the best out of your football career you will also have access to our Player Support Program which will assist you in areas of career networking, leadership, counselling and Community outreach.
Pre-Season Training starts off January 17th at Tooronga Sports Field, 1002 Crescent Road Glen Iris at 6.00pm. It would be great to get as many players as we can to our first training night. We need at least 60 players to field two strong teams. Unfortunately, I will be overseas leading 20 young people on an immersion through Kenya and Uganda but look forward to meeting you all on January 31st. We will have our first official team meeting on Monday 5th February where you will be given an outline on preseason training program, game plan, practice matches, expectations etc…..
I will be in contact with you all during my time in East Africa and you can ring/text me anytime on 0429 948 503 or email me purcellt@trinity.vic.edu.au in regards to anything.
Yours Sincerely,
Tommy Purcell
Senior Saints Coach
