The unbeaten run for SKOB in VAFA Premier continues after they defeated Old Trinity at TH King Oval this afternoon.
Playing once again in sunny fine conditions, SKOB raced away to a flying start against the previously unbeaten Old Trinity. Three goals were scored in quick succession before Old Trinity staged a mini fightback midway through the term. SKOB again came strong late and led by 4 points at quarter time.
In the next quarter SKOB got going with their now typical second term power game. They strangled Old Trinity with pressure and hard defense and then converted up forward. OTs were held goalless in the quarter whilst SKOB were able to pile on 5 without reply to extend their advantage to 31 points at half time.
The third quarter saw skob keep pulling away - again keeping OTs goal less, although some sloppy entries into the forward 50 prevented the score from blowing out further. Scoring the only two goals of the quarter the SKOB lead went out to 42 points at the final change.
Old Trinity fought hard in the last quarter to reduce the margin to under four goals with 7 minutes to play.
A chronic run of injuries left no spare men on the bench for SKOB but they were able to steady and control possession and a timely goal from Adduci put SKOB back in control before Shaun Kennedy booted his fourth.
A goal on the siren brought the margin back to 42 points as SKOB finished the stronger team. So SKOB run out winners by 42 points 98 to 56. A result that leaves SKOB unbeaten and at the top of the table in season 2018.
