To all our players, members, supporters, sponsors, donors and volunteers,
The VAFA has announced season 2020 will not proceed. This is another unfortunate outcome in an already difficult year.
We hope to try to find some ways to continue to facilitate engagement amongst our community. We are acutely aware of our role in bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging. We will be monitoring government announcements on restrictions on gatherings over the coming weeks and will attempt to do some things to create engagement and connection.
I would particularly like to thank the players (for their resilience and commitment in continuing to train in the face of such uncertainty); the coaches (for their efforts in facilitating training with all the restrictions and limitations that have been imposed); our volunteers (particularly our COVID officers!); our committee, management and, in particular our extraordinarily generous sponsors and supporters who have paid for memberships and donated money to keep us solvent.
We look forward to season 2021 and hope that you all can double down on your support for SKOB next year. Your support is going to vital.
Finally, we hope that everyone in our community stays safe and well.
In a statement the VAFA announced:
It is clear that the health and safety risks are far too great to proceed with the 2020 season.
